Design Style

Traditional

Transitional

Traditional

Traditional style design is timeless and makes you feel at home. Thick, bulkier textured woods with paneled doors, crown molding, and attention to detail are staples in traditional style kitchens. Traditional style utilizes natural materials and embraces any imperfections found in the wood. The details are often what sets traditional style cabinets apart. Some traditional cabinets include glass that can add depth to an already small kitchen, raised panel doors with additional moulding details, or anything that adds texture to the room. Traditional styling may include one or more of a variety of wood species, often darker colored stains that add to its old-world style and homey feel.

Modern

Traditional

Modern style cabinets are simple yet present. Unlike the bulkiness look of traditional-style cabinets, the modern style is tidy and sleek. Flat or Slab style doors are  a staple in modern styling, because the simple “frameless”  appearance of the door is in keeping with the simple styling. You won’t find ornate doors or other embellishments in this design style, just consistency in its accents and patterns. Everything has its place in a modern style kitchen, no glass doors to expose what’s inside, and any open shelving will be without frills.

Modern style is sleek and often incorporates vertical lines, highlighting the natural characteristics of the wood to make a statement. Although wood can be used in a modern context, often modern cabinets will be made from combination material such as laminate, which can offer a lighter feel.

Transitional

Transitional styling is a fairly new entrant to the design-style collection. It’s primary characteristic is the mixing of two or more styles in one space. Similar to classic styling in its flexibility, transitional style design incorporates neutral palates with textural elements such as natural materials, wood or granite. These kitchens may include elements like a stainless-steel hood with wood cabinets and a subway tile back splash.

Transitional design is not muddied with accessories or accents, instead lightly adorned with specific accessories to make a subtle statement that won’t confuse the eye. By seamlessly combining modern and traditional or contemporary and classic, homeowners can create a transitional style that ties together different styles already represented in their home.

Contemporary

Wondering Where To Go Now?

Contemporary style cabinets push the boundaries of what we know, incorporating old materials in a new way. Contemporary kitchens exude personality by mixing shapes, materials, and scale. Design options might incorporate multiple wood species, or stone, and is layered with pattern and texture. Concrete or quartz countertops, mosaic backsplashes, and cutting-edge appliances are all staples in contemporary design. Up-to-date accessories and appliances, like pop-up outlets, smart pull-out storage accessories, and dramatic lighting all  contribute to the statement made by a contemporary style kitchen.

Classic

Wondering Where To Go Now?

Classic style is minimalist. A neutral palate with simple accessories and modest details. Classic style is fresh and clean; white shaker doors are a staple in classic styling because of their flexibility and timelessness. Classic styling has the flexibility to fit with other design styles represented in the home. Classic style is the base from which a homeowner can add accessories, an ornate modern chandelier or industrial bar stool, to evolve a kitchen from a minimalist classic look, to a classic-modern masterpiece.
